Morocco opens 27 new primary health centres in Fès-Meknès and Beni Mellal

On Tuesday, Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection officially inaugurated 27 primary health‑care institutions across the Fès‑Meknès and Beni Mellal‑Khénifra regions. The rollout includes 25 centres in Fès‑Meknès—urban and rural health centres in the provinces of Fès, Meknès, Safrou, Taounate, Boulemane, El Hajeb and Taza—and two new rural dispensaries in Khénifra.

The openings follow King Mohammed VI’s royal directives to reform the national health system and implement the national programme to refurbish 1 600 primary‑care facilities, with 500 slated for 2026. The new centres are equipped with modern biomedical devices and staffed by 125 health professionals, aiming to serve more than 317 000 residents. Services will cover general medical examinations, chronic disease monitoring (including diabetes and hypertension), maternal‑child health, school health, health education and epidemic surveillance.
