Morocco positions 2030 FIFA World Cup as catalyst for African development

Morocco is preparing to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup and is promoting the tournament as a major driver of economic growth across Africa. Moroccan Ambassador to the United States Youssef Amrani said the event will accelerate development, create jobs, attract investment and strengthen strategic partnerships, especially with the United States.

The bid is part of a broader shift in the continent, with Senegal set to host the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar and new sports venues rising across Africa. Officials argue that sport is an industry that can generate employment, tourism, media revenue and infrastructure, helping to absorb the hundreds of millions of young Africans entering the workforce in the coming decades.
