Morocco is preparing for parliamentary elections for the House of Representatives on September 23, 2026. The official campaign is set to begin on September 10, following a candidate nomination period that opened on August 31. According to the Interior Ministry, 702 candidate lists from 27 political parties have already been submitted. Approximately 15.8 million voters are registered in the country.

Internal tensions have emerged within the current governing coalition, which consists of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), and the Istiqlal Party. Despite being partners in government, these parties are competing for influence and votes. Tensions have been exacerbated by accusations between allies and a leaked recording.

In preparation for the vote, the Public Prosecution Authority has issued a memorandum to prosecutors to combat electoral corruption and ensure transparency. The directive urges decisive action against unlawful practices to maintain the integrity of the democratic process. Additionally, the Challenge for Equality and Citizenship Association has raised concerns regarding the representation of women in the upcoming elections.
