Morocco prepares for September 2026 legislative election amid campaign rules and candidate line‑up

With the parliamentary election scheduled for 23 September 2026, Morocco is finalising the organisational framework. The Ministry of the Interior has issued three decrees on campaign accounts and, after a series of consultations, held a meeting with party leaders to review the operational preparations. Public broadcasters have allocated airtime according to party status: 21 minutes for parties with a parliamentary group, 15 minutes for represented parties without a group, and 9 minutes for non‑represented parties, each split over three sessions and complemented by brief TV‑news guest spots.

The election will involve over 30 million voters selecting 395 seats in the Chamber of Representatives. Key candidates highlighted include Mohamed Chaouki, the newly elected head of the RNI, and Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, leading the PAM party, among others vying for influence in a campaign set against Morocco’s major infrastructure drive ahead of the 2030 World Cup.
