Morocco prioritizes cybersecurity and critical infrastructure defense
During the Morocco Cybersecurity Week held in Rabat, Abdellatif Loudiyi, Minister Delegate in charge of National Defense Administration, emphasized that securing information systems is a strategic necessity rather than an optional expense. He highlighted that cyberattacks are a tangible reality for all nations and called for a proactive approach focused on preparedness, early detection, and rapid response.
Loudiyi outlined a national vision based on five pillars: a clear legal and regulatory framework, development of human and technical capacities, increased awareness, enhanced monitoring and response capabilities, and strengthened regional and international cooperation. He specifically noted the dual nature of artificial intelligence as both a tool for attackers and a resource for defenders.
In the private sector, Orange Maroc announced new technological collaborations with Fortinet, NETSCOUT, and Ivanti to bolster the protection of critical infrastructures and industrial systems. These partnerships aim to improve network resilience and enhance the identification of sophisticated threats.
