Morocco readies September 2026 parliamentary election with new oversight committee
On 14 July 2026 Morocco’s Ministry of Interior held a final consultative meeting with leaders of parliamentary parties to review organisational, legal and logistical arrangements ahead of the legislative election scheduled for 23 September 2026. The discussion covered the latest electoral regulations, funding rules for party campaigns and the rollout of electronic platforms for candidate nominations and overseas voting.
A royal decree also instituted a joint Central Committee, composed of the Interior Minister and the head of the public prosecutor, to monitor the election’s integrity. The committee will be supported by regional bodies headed by governors and officials to oversee the safety and credibility of the voting process throughout the country.
