Morocco removes Madiha Khayr from ministry after two days
King Mohammed VI has accepted the request of Head of Government Fatima Zarha Mansouri to remove Madiha Khayr from her position as Minister Delegate for Vocational Training and Qualification. Khayr held the post for only 48 hours following her appointment.
The dismissal follows the circulation of social media reports concerning Khayr’s alleged judicial past. These reports included a medical certificate dated from 2024 and resurfaced allegations involving legal proceedings in Beni Mellal related to jewelry merchants, transactions, and checks. While the authenticity of the documents has not been officially established, the government spokesperson, Samir Belfkih, described the decision as being based on a “political and institutional assessment” shared by majority parties.
Khayr, a member of the Istiqlal party representing the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, reportedly also accepted a request to resign from her seat as a deputy. Her removal reduces the number of women in the current government.
