Morocco resumes visa processing for Taiwanese tourists
Morocco has reportedly resumed processing Visa Confirmation Letter (VCL) applications for Taiwanese citizens traveling for tourism purposes. While the Moroccan government has not issued a formal public announcement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) stated that preliminary verbal confirmation was received from the Moroccan Embassy in Japan, indicating that processing resumed around September 21, 2026.
Travel agencies, including Five Dragons, confirmed the resumption of services after inquiries made during the Tourism EXPO Japan 2026. The current resumption specifically covers tourism; applications for meetings, exhibitions, or other special purposes may still require individual verification.
In response to these developments, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the situation and will consider whether to resume visa applications for Moroccan citizens to Taiwan, maintaining a policy of reciprocity. Morocco had previously suspended VCL applications for Taiwanese travelers in July, a move that was not accompanied by an official explanation.
