Morocco sees growth in urban rankings and luxury hospitality
Morocco has achieved notable recognition in both urban development and luxury hospitality according to recent international indices.
In the 2026 Global Cities Index published by Oxford Economics, six Moroccan cities ranked within the top 50 in Africa. Casablanca led the national group, ranking 384th globally and sixth in Africa, followed by Rabat, Tangier, Agadir, Fez, and Marrakech. The index evaluates cities based on economy, human capital, quality of life, environment, and governance.
In the hospitality sector, the Michelin Guide has awarded 31 Moroccan hotels Michelin Keys for 2026. Two establishments, Kasbah Tamadot and La Mamounia, received the prestigious Three Michelin Keys, the highest distinction available. These two properties are among only nine hotels in the Middle East, Africa, and India region to achieve this top rating.
