Morocco sees rise in business registrations and international entrepreneurship
Morocco is demonstrating significant entrepreneurial activity both domestically and abroad. According to data from the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC), 60,908 new businesses were registered in Morocco during the first seven months of 2026. Legal entities accounted for 75% of these new registrations, with the single-member limited liability company (SARL AU) being the most popular legal form at 65%. Geographically, the Casablanca-Settat region led domestic registrations, accounting for 39.3% of legal entities.
Internationally, Moroccans have emerged as the leading group of foreign individual entrepreneurs in Italy. Data released by InfoCamere and Unioncamere shows that as of June 30, 2026, Moroccans held 53,364 sole proprietorships in Italy, placing them ahead of Romanian and Chinese entrepreneurs. This ranking specifically reflects individual businesses, where nationality can be directly identified, and notes a strong Moroccan presence in the Italian commerce sector, particularly in the southern part of the country.
