Morocco sees surge in car imports boosting customs revenue in 2025

Moroccan customs data show a 20% rise in used car imports in 2025, with 17,547 units cleared versus 14,589 in 2024. The higher volume, especially vehicles older than three years, pushed customs and tax receipts up 39% to 834 million dirhams.

At the same time, the National Fisheries Office reported a 16% drop in the volume of coastal and traditional fish products cleared at Nador port in May 2026, falling to 1,256 tonnes from 1,498 tonnes a year earlier. Market value of these products also fell 16% to 59.40 million dirhams, while shipments of surface fish at the port increased 7%.

Both sets of figures illustrate shifting patterns in Morocco’s trade and revenue streams across automotive imports and seafood exports.
