Morocco to host inaugural avocado industry conference in 2026

The Morocco Avocado Conference 2026 (MAC) is scheduled to take place on September 30, 2026, in Tangier. Organized by Green Smile, this event marks the first international conference in Morocco dedicated exclusively to the avocado industry.

The conference aims to address critical challenges facing the sector. While Morocco previously exported a record 141,000 tonnes, the 2025/2026 season saw exports drop to approximately 58,000 tonnes. This decline has been attributed to logistical hurdles and extreme weather events, including heatwaves, flooding, and chergui winds.

Under the theme ‘Water, Yield, Market’, the event will bring together growers, exporters, technical experts, and decision-makers to discuss irrigation, plant quality, certification, and climate resilience. Following the conference, Green Smile will host an Avocado Advanced Fertigation Training on October 1-2, 2026, to provide technical support to industry professionals.
