Morocco tourism hits record growth amid digital and infrastructure shifts
Morocco’s tourism sector is experiencing significant growth, with visitor arrivals rising from 17.4 million in 2024 to 19.8 million in 2025. This surge has surpassed the targets set in the nation’s 2023-2026 tourism roadmap, which had aimed for 17.5 million tourists and 120 billion dirhams in revenue.
To support this expansion and prepare for co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, the country is investing heavily in infrastructure, including expanded airport capacities, new high-speed rail connections, and improved transportation systems in cities such as Marrakech, Fes, Rabat, and Tangier.
Digital transformation is also playing a critical role in the industry’s strategy. The sector is increasingly utilizing online booking platforms, digital promotion, and artificial intelligence to manage traveler experiences and optimize business operations. This technological shift allows local establishments, such as riads and guesthouses, to reach international markets more effectively. Additionally, there is growing interest from North American travelers, particularly Canadians, seeking cultural and warm-weather escapes.
