Morocco tourism minister announces 188 million dirham village development plan
Moroccan Tourism Minister Fatima Zahra Ammor has announced a strategic program to develop 16 tourist villages, including Tafoogalt, to expand the country's tourism reach into rural and mountainous regions. The initiative, backed by a budget of approximately 188 million dirhams, aims to leverage natural and cultural assets to drive local development and job creation.
According to Ammor, the tourism sector is experiencing significant growth. Recent developments have added roughly 2,000 new beds, and 50 new projects have received licenses. These upcoming projects are expected to provide an additional 7,000 beds and create approximately 8,000 jobs. The Minister emphasized that the goal is to diversify the tourism offering beyond major destinations to ensure broader economic benefits across different territories.
