Morocco unveils AI 2030 roadmap to boost GDP and digital sovereignty

Morocco has unveiled its ‘Morocco AI 2030’ roadmap, a national strategy aimed at establishing digital sovereignty and driving economic growth through artificial intelligence. Presented by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, the plan targets the generation of 100 billion dirhams in added value to the GDP by 2030. The strategy also aims to create 50,000 direct and indirect jobs and certify 200,000 talents in the field.

The roadmap is built on three pillars: sovereignty and trust, innovation and competitiveness, and adoption and impact. Key components include the development of the JAZARI National Institute network—focusing on smart cities, education, and industry—and the creation of a sovereign AI marketplace to provide secure, reliable tools.

Complementing this vision is the ‘Generation AIoT’ program, part of the broader ‘Maroc Digital 2030’ initiative. This collaborative project between the Ministry, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, and ABA Technology focuses on training youth in AI and the Internet of Things (IoT). Since its launch in February 2026, the program has already seen significant engagement, with participants in Salé and Casablanca working on applied projects across sectors such as health, mining, finance, and logistics.
