Morocco tourism hits 9.4 million visitors in first half of 2026
Morocco recorded close to 9.4 million arrivals at its border posts by the end of June 2026, a 6 % rise compared with the same period a year earlier. The growth was driven by strong performance in several source markets: France (+9 %), Germany (+14 %), Belgium (+9 %), the Netherlands (+10 %), Italy (+6 %), Poland (+32 %), the United Kingdom (+4 %) and the United States (+9 %).
The sector’s value added rose 8.1 % in the first quarter, while night‑stays in classified hotels increased 9 % in May year‑on‑year. Destination‑specific gains were led by Ouarzazate (+24 % night‑stays), Rabat (+18 %), Agadir (+13 %), Casablanca (+12 %) and Marrakech (+10 %). Overall tourism revenues reached about 53.8 billion dirhams by the end of May, up 14.6 % from the previous year.
Analysts note that the sustained influx reflects diversification of Morocco’s tourism offer, improved air connectivity and higher‑end infrastructure, positioning the kingdom as a leading Mediterranean destination.
