Morocco's 2026 Legislative Election Draws Party Complaint and Civil Coalition Demands

The Justice and Development Party (PJD) in the Beni Mellal region issued a strong statement condemning what it described as premature electoral activities and illegal practices ahead of the 2026 legislative elections. The party alleged that some candidates used public works, food distributions, solar panels, and other resources to influence voters, and called for an investigation into these actions to protect the integrity of the election.

Separately, a civil coalition representing Morocco’s mountain regions released a memorandum outlining ten commitments it expects political parties to adopt in their election programs. The demands include a dedicated legal framework for mountain areas, improved infrastructure and services, sustainable economic development, environmental protection, social justice, and mechanisms to monitor party compliance with these commitments.
