Morocco's Agriculture Minister Bouari Leads Regional Investment Councils
Agriculture Minister Ahmed Bouari chaired the board of the regional agricultural investment office for Al Locus in Kasr el Kebir and the administrative council for the West region in Kenitra. Both meetings reviewed the 2025 performance and the implementation status of the 2026 budget, highlighting progress on irrigation infrastructure, hydro‑agricultural projects and water‑resource management.
Bouari noted a 37‑44 % rise in grain, sugar beet and cotton production, a 45 % increase in agricultural exports, and the conversion of canal systems to high‑density polyethylene pipelines, expanding irrigated areas to over 62,500 ha. He also emphasized the response to recent floods, support for affected farmers and ongoing land‑reform and collective‑farm initiatives.
The councils presented technical and financial reports, confirming a 99 % budget execution rate for 2025 and outlining further projects such as drip‑irrigation expansion, new agricultural‑marketing facilities and the upcoming national citric‑fruit exhibition.
