Moroleón municipality removes hazardous trees and plans reforestation

Municipal workers in Moroleón, Guanajuato, began removing around ten dead trees along the 16 de Septiembre expansion after residents complained of safety risks. The city’s Ecology Directorate attributed the die‑off to natural aging or possible poisoning, but the exact cause remains unclear. The removal is part of preparations for a 60‑million‑peso road‑modernization project that will widen lanes and improve access to local facilities.

Mayor’s office officials said the felled trees will be replanted with other native species once the construction is complete, fulfilling a promise to restore the green corridor that lines the avenue. Residents expressed relief at the action, noting the trees had posed a long‑standing danger and that the road upgrade is a priority for the town.
