Moscow Endures Largest Ukrainian Drone Attack in Two Years
During the night of 7 July, more than 430 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were launched toward the Moscow region, the largest drone barrage aimed at the Russian capital in the past two years. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin posted on social media that “more than 430 drones flew towards the Moscow region” and that 36 of them were destroyed as they approached the city. The majority were intercepted at longer range by Russian air‑defence forces. A previous, smaller wave on 4 July involved over 200 drones. Russia’s foreign‑minister deputy Mikhail Galuzin warned that the Baltic states were “playing with fire” by allowing their airspace to be used for attacks on Russian territory. No casualties or major damage were reported in Moscow, and the Russian authorities have not confirmed any successful strikes on military targets.
