Moscow reports over 2,600 Ukrainian drone launches in one week

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that Ukrainian forces launched more than 2,600 drones toward Moscow and its surrounding region over a one-week period. Specifically, between 8:30 AM on August 15 and 8:30 AM on August 22, 2026, a total of 2,652 unmanned aerial vehicles were detected heading toward the capital.

Russian officials have suggested that the increase in drone strikes against Russian territory and civilian targets is a response to Ukrainian military setbacks on the battlefield. The report also noted that since July, Ukrainian forces have targeted Wildberries marketplace warehouses in Russia, resulting in fires and goods destruction, though personnel were largely evacuated in time.
