Moscow to host GECF Summit and Russia-Africa Summit

Moscow is set to host two significant international gatherings in late October. The 8th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) will take place from October 25 to 27. The summit arrives amidst global energy uncertainties, rising natural gas demand, and geopolitical challenges. Discussions are expected to build upon the Algiers Declaration, focusing on sovereign rights over gas resources, energy security through dialogue between producers and consumers, and the development of reliable natural gas markets. A key priority includes supporting African nations in combating energy poverty.

Additionally, the Third Russia-Africa Summit is scheduled for October 28–29 in Moscow. The event occurs during a period of significant global conflict. The summit follows the recent awarding of the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize to Vietnamese leader To Lam, with the African Union previously recognized as a laureate.
