Moses Matovu death investigation: Suspect remanded as witness clarified

Investigations continue into the death of Moses Matovu, the 77-year-old founding member and leader of the Afrigo Band. Matovu died at Kibuli Hospital on September 24, 2026, following a physical confrontation.

Vincent Arnold Nsamba has been arrested and identified as the primary suspect. Nsamba claims that during a confrontation involving Rose Tusiime, Matovu appeared weak and intoxicated before losing his balance and hitting his head. Nsamba stated he fled the scene out of fear after seeing Matovu bleeding. He has been remanded in court until November 3, 2026.

Director of Public Prosecutions Lino Anguzu clarified that Rose Tusiime will not face criminal charges in connection with the incident. Prosecutors are treating Tusiime as a potential witness who will assist investigators in establishing the facts of the attack rather than a suspect.
