Mosquito control spraying scheduled in Oregon and New Jersey

Mosquito control districts in Oregon and New Jersey have announced upcoming spraying operations to manage mosquito populations and mitigate health risks.

In western Umatilla County, Oregon, the West Umatilla Mosquito Control District will conduct aerial and truck-mounted spraying near Power City. This response follows the discovery of four mosquito samples testing positive for West Nile virus in the Bowdin Road, Sagebrush Road, and Wanaket Wildlife areas. The district plans to use a twin-engine aircraft to cover approximately 5,000 acres between Lind and Craig roads, with operations scheduled after sunset.

In Camden County, New Jersey, the Mosquito Control Commission will perform ultra-low-volume (ULV) spraying operations throughout various municipalities, including Somerdale, Haddon Township, Collingswood, Bellmawr, Brooklawn, and Gloucester City. The spraying is scheduled to take place in the early morning hours. Officials are urging residents to eliminate standing water in containers and flowerpots to reduce breeding grounds.
