Mossos d'Esquadra members call for boycott of film ‘Cronos’

The upcoming film ‘Cronos’, directed by Fernando González Molina, is facing backlash from members of the Mossos d'Esquadra police force. The thriller aims to reconstruct the 124-hour police operation following the August 2017 jihadist attacks in La Rambla and Cambrils, focusing on the deployment that led to the death of the final terrorist in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia.

Controversy has arisen due to statements made by lead actor Enric Auquer. Auquer has criticized the BRIMO (Mossos d'Esquadra's intervention unit), alleging the disproportionate use of force during protests and suggesting a protective stance toward far-right groups. He also stated he felt no sympathy for the Mossos d'Esquadra.

In response, Toni Castejón, spokesperson for the FEPOL union, expressed strong disapproval of the actor's comments, calling them an insult to the officers who experienced the horror of the 2017 attacks. The union's reaction has led to calls for a boycott of the film among some officers.
