Most prosecutor indicts two following fatal restaurant fire

A prosecutor has indicted two individuals in connection with the tragic fire at the U Kojota restaurant in Most, which occurred in January 2025. The indictment, filed with the District Court in Most, charges the defendants with public endangerment due to negligence. If convicted, the individuals face up to ten years in prison.

The fire was caused by a falling gas heater, which reportedly created a leak between a pressure vessel valve and the heater regulator. This released a propane-butane mixture that ignited, resulting in a massive jet fire that spread rapidly across the terrace. The incident resulted in seven deaths and ten injuries.

Investigations revealed that the heaters were placed on an unapproved terrace, which was a violation of building regulations. Additionally, the restaurant was found to have stored a significantly higher number of propane-butane pressure vessels than permitted, contrary to the manufacturer's operating instructions.
