Mostar firefighters warn against open fires amid heatwave

Mostar fire department issued an urgent appeal urging residents to refrain from lighting open fires during the summer heat. The warning follows a recent incident in the Ilići neighbourhood where careless behavior could have sparked a large blaze. Firefighters intervened quickly, containing the fire before it spread to surrounding areas and caused extensive material damage.

Officials emphasized that dry vegetation and soil during high temperatures increase the risk of rapid fire spread. Citizens are urged to avoid burning waste, weed, or any other material outdoors and to report any sign of fire to authorities immediately, helping protect lives, property, and the environment.
