Mostar public kitchens provide meals to hundreds of residents
Public kitchens in Mostar are providing essential food assistance to hundreds of people, including elderly citizens, pensioners, socially vulnerable families, and minors. The Pučka kuhinja Mostar prepares between 150 and 200 meals daily. According to its director, Antonije Zelenika, the actual number of people receiving aid is significantly higher than official records suggest, as the facility provides food to anyone expressing hunger, regardless of their registration status.
Additionally, the Red Cross Public Kitchen in Mostar serves 232 users with one cooked meal per day. To supplement this, the Red Cross distributes dry meals on weekends and provides fruit and milk once a week, as noted by secretary Alen Kajtaz. The demand for these services remains high and fluctuates, driven by various life circumstances such as job loss.
