Mother files complaints on alleged gang rape after Noelia Castillo's euthanasia

Yolanda Ramos, the mother of Noelia Castillo Ramos, has lodged two official complaints with the public prosecutor's offices in Barcelona and Tarragona, demanding an investigation into the alleged gang rape that preceded her daughter's medically assisted death. Noelia, a 25‑year‑old Spanish woman, died by euthanasia in March 2026 after a suicide attempt left her paraplegic.

According to a handwritten diary Noelia gave her mother before dying, the first assault was committed by her former boyfriend, a Pakistani man, and a second took place on 3 October 2022 in Salou, Tarragona, where she was drugged and raped by three men. The diary contains names, phone numbers and photographs that could identify the suspects. Noelia had fought for two years to obtain the legal right to die, a request approved by a Catalan court in 2024. Her mother, represented by the Spanish Foundation of Christian Lawyers, seeks criminal accountability for the alleged perpetrators.
