Murderer Vickrum Digwa’s mother jailed; killer fears other inmates at HMP Frankland

Vickrum Digwa was convicted of murdering 18‑year‑old finance student Henry Nowak in Southampton on 3 December 2025 and received a life sentence with a minimum term of 21 years. After the stabbing, Digwa’s mother, Kiran Kaur, took the ceremonial knife from the scene and hid it at the family home. In May 2026 a jury found her guilty of assisting an offender, and on 17 July she was sentenced to three years in prison.

The Crown Prosecution Service released CCTV footage from Digwa’s phone showing him speaking in Punjabi to his mother and saying, “Take this,” as he instructed her to remove the weapon. Judges criticised Kaur’s actions, saying they helped conceal the crime and added to the victim’s suffering.

Later reports indicate Digwa has been transferred to HMP Frankland in County Durham – nicknamed “Monster Mansion” – where high‑profile inmates such as Wayne Couzens and Levi Bellfield are housed. Prison officials warned he would be a target, and a source said Digwa arrived “terrified, literally shaking”. The case has sparked public debate over policing, parental responsibility and the safety of high‑profile prisoners.
