Noelia Castillo's mother files rape complaints following euthanasia

Noelia Castillo, a 25‑year‑old from the Garraf region, died by euthanasia on 26 March after receiving legal approval in Spain. Her mother, Yolanda Ramos, has now lodged two criminal complaints with the prosecutors in Barcelona and Tarragona, alleging that her daughter suffered two separate rapes.

The first alleged assault was committed by Noelia's former partner, with whom she had a four‑year relationship. The second alleged assault occurred in Salou, where Noelia says she was drugged by a waiter and then raped by three men. She attempted suicide three days after the latter attack, survived but was left paraplegic.

Ramos says she now possesses Noelia’s diary and other documentation that could identify the perpetrators. The legal organization Abogados Cristianos is representing her, urging the authorities to investigate and prosecute the alleged offenders. The case has reignited public debate in Spain over euthanasia legislation and the handling of sexual‑violence crimes.
