MotoGP 2027 grid finalized with reduced Catalan participation

The official lineup for the 2027 MotoGP season has been confirmed with 22 participants. The announcement marks a significant decline in representation from Catalan riders; while the region previously saw up to seven simultaneous competitors, only brothers Marc and Àlex Márquez will represent Catalonia in the upcoming championship.

This shift follows the retirement of Àlex Rins and Maverick Viñales being left without a seat at the Tech3 team. Historically, up to fifteen Catalan riders have competed in the premier category since 2002, including notable figures such as Dani Pedrosa and Sete Gibernau.

Amidst these roster changes, Marc Márquez has expressed his intention to remain competitive. Despite acknowledging that retirement is approaching, the Ducati rider stated he still possesses the strength to compete for several more years, driven by the passion and adrenaline of the sport.
