MotoGP 2027 rule overhaul forces riders into more physical, aggressive riding

The 2027 MotoGP regulations will cut engine capacity from 1,000 cc to 850 cc, ban electronic ride‑height devices and reduce aerodynamic aids, while making Pirelli the exclusive tyre supplier. Early testing at Brno shows riders battling the front end of the new prototypes, highlighting a shift toward greater physical effort and rider skill.

Manufacturers such as KTM, Honda and Ducati are already evaluating their 850 cc machines, with test laps close to current pole times. Veteran champion Marc Marquez has criticised the current “robot” riding style forced by aerodynamics and welcomes the upcoming reductions, noting that future bikes will allow riders more freedom to override the aero envelope.
