MotoGP prepares for 2027 season with Pirelli contract and Misano rider showcase

Ahead of the MotoGP season’s summer break, the Italian CIV round at Misano hosted a special rider showcase. Riders from the VR46 Riders Academy, including nine‑time world champion Valentino Rossi, three‑time champion Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia, Franco Morbidelli, Luca Marini, Celestino Vietti and Marco Bezzecchi (who was recovering from injury), took to the track during the night race weekend.

Pirelli announced that it will become the sole tyre supplier for MotoGP starting in 2027, replacing Michelin. The Italian tyre maker will also supply Moto2 and Moto3 and will handle logistics, technical support and race‑week services. While exact tyre prices remain confidential, an estimate places a single MotoGP tyre at just over €300. Pirelli will pay a fee to the promoter and share other costs, and it intends to drop the minimum‑pressure rule from 2027 onward.
