Motor Lublin announces plans to relocate speedway matches to Tarnów
Motor Lublin speedway club has announced plans to leave its home stadium at Zygmuntowskich and relocate home matches to Tarnów. Jakub Kępa, president of Orlen Oil Motor Lublin, confirmed the move following the conclusion of the current season.
While the club has signaled its departure, officials in Tarnów have not yet finalized an agreement. Tarnów Mayor Jakub Kwaśny stated that discussions are ongoing, noting that the city might host the top-tier team for two years, though several issues remain to be resolved. A primary concern is the division of costs required to upgrade the Tarnów facility to meet Speedway Ekstraliga standards, as the stadium currently requires improvements to its lighting and other infrastructure.
In Lublin, the city administration has stated that the reconstruction of the Zygmuntowskich stadium is scheduled to begin in 2027. The city noted that the venue will be out of use during construction and therefore will not require a license during that period. However, the Speedway Ekstraliga has issued a negative recommendation for the current Lublin stadium for the 2027 season and has requested clarification regarding whether the city can guarantee the completion of reconstruction by June 1, 2028.
