Motor Lublin stadium reconstruction and relocation

Overview

The Motor Lublin speedway club has announced plans to relocate its home matches for approximately two years due to the planned modernization of its stadium at Aleje Zygmuntowskie. While a move to Tarnów was initially anticipated, negotiations have stalled due to unresolved issues regarding the division of modernization costs, necessary infrastructure upgrades to meet Ekstraliga standards (specifically lighting), and demands from the Tarnów municipality for guaranteed ticket allocations for local residents.

As a result of the impasse with Tarnów, the club has begun exploring alternative venues for the 2027 season, including Kraków and Częstochowa. Unofficial contact has reportedly been made with Kraków officials regarding the stadium at ul. Odmogile, though any move there would likely face similar financial disputes over upgrading player facilities, safety, lighting, and broadcasting requirements.

In Lublin, the reconstruction project is managed by MOSiR ‘Bystrzyca’ with a budget of approximately 247.8 million PLN. The tender process has narrowed to two companies: Budimex, which submitted a bid of 290.9 million PLN, and TEXOM, which offered 232.3 million PLN. TEXOM’s previous selection was invalidated due to concerns regarding a proposed partner, but the company has since nominated a new subcontractor currently undergoing verification. Both firms have extended their bid validity by 60 days. While the Lublin city administration expects construction to begin in 2027, the Speedway Ekstraliga has issued a negative recommendation for the current Lublin stadium for the 2027 season and has requested clarification on whether the city can guarantee reconstruction completion by June 1, 2028.
