Motor Oil Greece donates fire trucks and equipment to Agios Vasileios municipality

Motor Oil (Greece) A.E. and the Vardignoyannis family announced a donation to strengthen the civil protection of the municipality of Agios Vasileios in Rethymno. The contribution includes one fully equipped double‑cab fire truck, five pick‑up vehicles and complete personal protective gear for 50 volunteer firefighters.

The donation follows a recent wildfire that devastated the area, killed two firefighters and highlighted the need for better resources. Mayor Giannis Tatarakis thanked the donors, describing the equipment as an investment in future safety and the protection of the unique Preveli pine forest, a rare ecosystem valued for its environmental and cultural significance. Motor Oil emphasized its sense of responsibility toward the local community and the natural environment, noting that adequate equipment is essential for effective fire prevention and response.
