Motosu City cake shop fire investigation reveals uninvited guest

Police are investigating a fatal arson and murder case following a fire at a cake shop and residence in Motosu City, Gifu Prefecture. The blaze, which occurred on September 5, destroyed approximately 300 square meters of the building and resulted in three deaths.

Authorities have identified one of the deceased as 70-year-old Hiroshi Hayashi, a company executive from Mizuho City, who was found injured in a vehicle at the scene. Two other unidentified individuals also died in the fire, while the 66-year-old shop owner and another person sustained injuries.

Investigators discovered a gasoline canister among the debris. While initial reports included a call stating that someone had been stabbed and gasoline had been poured, police are now looking into whether Hayashi himself may have brought the gasoline to the scene. New information suggests that Hayashi was not invited to the gathering taking place at the residence, which included the shop owner and nine of her middle school classmates. Police are currently searching Hayashi's home in Mizuho City as part of their investigation into suspected murder and arson.
