Motul expands technical partnerships with McLaren Racing and other motorsport teams

Motul is utilizing motorsport as a technical testing ground to advance the development of high-performance lubricants for both racing and consumer vehicles. By partnering with professional racing teams, the company gathers data from extreme engine speeds and temperatures to optimize product reliability and performance.

In a significant expansion of its technical partnership, Motul is deepening its collaboration with McLaren Racing. The company currently supplies bespoke lubricants for the gearbox and differential of McLaren’s Formula 1 machinery. Following nine months of research and development involving teams in France and Japan, Motul developed the specialized 2714E gear oil through extensive testing at the McLaren Technology Centre.

The partnership is set to expand in 2027 when McLaren enters the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Hypercar category. At that time, Motul will provide engine and transmission lubricants alongside technical support via its Racing Lab, a mobile facility designed to analyze fluid samples for wear, oxidation, and thermal stability. Motul also maintains active technical partnerships with other entities, including Manthey, Grasser Racing Team, and McLaren.
