Mount Ararat research identifies potential structures of Noah's Ark

An international research team led by Professor Cenker Atila of Sivas Cumhuriyet University is conducting an archaeological investigation at the Durupınar formation near Doğubayazıt, Mount Ararat. The project, which began on June 28, 2026, involves 20 scientists from five different countries and is supported by the US-based organization Noah’s Ark Scans.

Using advanced technology, including radar systems utilized by the US Air Force, researchers have identified underground anomalies and regular-edged cavities. These findings have led the team to suggest the structures could potentially be rooms belonging to Noah’s Ark. Additionally, preliminary soil analysis shows that the carbon content in the interior of the formation is approximately 40 percent higher than in the exterior, which may indicate the presence of organic matter or wood remains.

The team has completed 3D modeling, GPS mapping, and initial radar scans. They plan to collect approximately 1,000 soil samples to further investigate organic traces. Definitive results from the study are expected to be announced within two months.
