Mountain rescue teams conduct evacuations in Gorj and Piatra Craiului

Mountain rescue teams in Romania have completed two separate operations to assist hikers in distress.

In Gorj County, Salvamont Gorj rescued two individuals on the via ferrata route in Cheile Galbenului. The tourists requested assistance after experiencing exhaustion that prevented them from continuing the ascent safely. Rescuers successfully evacuated both people from the route without further incident.

In the Piatra Craiului Mountains, a 50-year-old woman was evacuated from the Șaua Funduri area after suffering a lower limb injury. The rescue operation, involving Salvamont Zărnești, Salvamont Argeș, and a helicopter from POA Caransebeș, was initially delayed by poor weather conditions. Once weather permitted, the woman was airlifted and subsequently transferred to a SMURD medical crew for further treatment.
