Mountain rescuers respond to distress calls in Bucegi Mountains
Mountain rescue teams in the Bucegi Mountains were mobilized following two separate incidents involving hikers in distress.
In one instance, authorities responded to an SOS signal reported by a tourist in Valea Glăjeriei. The signal was later confirmed to have been sent by two individuals who had reached the Mălăieşti cabin. Officials confirmed the two people were safe and planned to descend the mountain that evening.
In a separate operation, three young hikers were rescued via helicopter after becoming stuck in a steep, unmarked valley near Gălbinele Valley. The group lacked the necessary technical equipment and experience for the terrain. Rescuers from Salvamont Prahova utilized an aerial support helicopter from Târgu Mureș to insert rescuers who then retrieved the individuals. Authorities have issued warnings to tourists regarding the dangers of attempting difficult routes without proper preparation and gear.
