Mountaineer rescued in Asturias after fall on mountain ridge

A 29-year-old mountaineer was rescued by the Asturias Firefighters Rescue Group after falling on the ridge between Cabrones and Torrecerredo in the Cabrales municipality. The victim sustained an ankle injury and multiple contusions to the torso.

The rescue operation involved a medicalized helicopter from the Asturias Emergency Service (SEPA). Due to the difficult terrain, rescuers utilized a crane operation with approximately 30 meters of cable to lift the injured man and a medical rescuer into the aircraft. The victim was evacuated to the Hospital de Arriondas for medical treatment.
