Mountain rescue in Asturias

Overview

A 29-year-old mountaineer was rescued by the Asturias Firefighters Rescue Group after falling on a ridge between Cabrones and Torrecerredo in the Cabrales municipality. The individual sustained an ankle injury and multiple torso contusions.

The Asturias Emergency Service (SEPA) deployed a medicalized helicopter for the operation. Rescuers used a crane with approximately 30 meters of cable to lift the victim and a medical rescuer into the aircraft due to the difficult terrain. The victim was subsequently evacuated to the Hospital de Arriondas.
