Movida posts record Q2 profit and targets lower leverage

Brazilian car‑rental firm Movida reported a net profit of R$ 135.6 million for the second quarter, the highest in four years and above its R$ 110‑130 million guidance. Gross revenue reached R$ 4 billion, up 3.2% year‑on‑year, driven by a record R$ 2.6 billion from the rental unit, a 21% increase over the same period last year.

EBITDA grew 22% to R$ 1.7 billion and EBIT surpassed the R$ 1 billion mark for the first time. The company’s net debt‑to‑EBITDA ratio fell to 2.6×, the lowest in five years, supporting its plan to sustainably reduce financial leverage. Movida highlighted strong fleet utilization, disciplined pricing and a capital injection of R$ 750 million from BNDES Par, which became a significant shareholder.

The full Q2 results are slated for release on 12 August, and analysts see the performance as a positive signal for Movida’s ongoing debt‑reduction strategy amid a high‑interest‑rate environment.
