Fidel Castro centennial commemorations held in Cuba and Mexico
Various political, cultural, and social organizations are conducting activities to commemorate the centennial of the birth of Fidel Castro Ruz. In Cuba, the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (EIPCO) was inaugurated in Havana, attended by President Miguel Díaz-Canel. Participants emphasized international solidarity and criticized the economic blockade imposed by the United States.
In Mexico, the Movimiento Antorchista announced a series of political and cultural events in states including Puebla and Veracruz to honor Castro's legacy and his impact on social struggles. These include conferences and cultural marches scheduled for mid-August.
Other commemorative activities include an art exhibition titled "Arte Fiel" in Havana, awards for youth in Holguín, and blood donations and agricultural fairs in Camagüey. Additionally, Chilean Communist Party President Lautaro Carmona traveled to Cuba to meet with Díaz-Canel to discuss inter-party cooperation and solidarity during the centennial celebrations.
