Movimiento Ciudadano leaders demand justice after Nadia Vehurini assassination

Nadia Vehurini Matadama Díaz, the municipal leader of the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) party in Tlapehuala, was assassinated on Friday night in Chilpancingo, Guerrero. The shooting occurred at her residence in the Atlitenco de Altamira neighborhood.

Leaders of Movimiento Ciudadano, including national coordinator Jorge Álvarez Máynez and former governor Héctor Astudillo Flores, have condemned the killing. They described the act as a “cowardly murder” and demanded that authorities conduct an immediate, exhaustive, and transparent investigation with a gender perspective to ensure justice and prevent impunity.

Party officials emphasized that violence against women and those participating in public life must not be normalized in Guerrero or anywhere in the country, noting that such acts serve as a means of intimidation.
