Movistar blocks over 229 million fraudulent calls

Movistar has blocked more than 229 million fraudulent calls since March 2025. The company, a commercial brand of Telefónica, currently neutralizes an average of 480,000 fraudulent calls per day through automatic network blocking.

These measures are designed to intercept criminal practices such as identity spoofing and the use of manipulated numbers before they reach end users. To complement this, Movistar offers a free ‘Spam Calls’ service that displays warnings on phone screens when incoming communications are categorized as spam, allowing users to decide whether to answer or activate automatic blocking.

These security initiatives are part of the ‘Es por Tere’ campaign, launched in September, which aims to promote digital security and trust through various media platforms.
