Movistar Team secures Paula Blasi in landmark women’s cycling deal

The Movistar cycling team has reached an agreement to sign Catalan rider Paula Blasi, starting in 2027. The contract, which runs through the end of 2029, reportedly includes an annual salary exceeding €600,000.

This deal highlights a significant financial shift in women’s professional cycling over the last decade. For comparison, in 2018, Movistar negotiated an annual salary of €25,000 for rider Mavi García. The difference between these two contracts represents an increase of more than €575,000 per year.

Blasi joins the team following high-level performances, including victories at the Amstel Gold Race and La Vuelta Femenina, as well as a fifth-place finish in the Tour. While these figures reflect the growing investment in top-tier talent and the evolving market, they are not necessarily representative of the financial reality for the entire professional peloton.
