Movistar Team roster and partnership updates

Overview

The Movistar Team has announced several organizational and roster changes. The cycling apparel brand Gobik will end its four-year partnership with the team at the conclusion of the 2026 season.

Regarding the roster, the team has extended the contract of Italian cyclist Manlio Moro through the end of the 2027 season. Additionally, the team has signed Spanish cyclist Paula Blasi on a three-year deal through 2029. Blasi, who joins from UAE Team ADQ, is expected to share leadership responsibilities with Marlen Reusser to bolster the squad’s competitiveness in major international races.

Blasi, a 23-year-old standout performer, arrives following victories at La Vuelta Femenina, the Amstel Gold Race, and the Volta a Catalunya, as well as a fifth-place finish in her debut Tour de France Femmes. To secure her services, Movistar reportedly paid a €100,000 release clause to her previous team.

Reports indicate the contract for the Catalan rider includes an annual salary exceeding €600,000. This deal is noted as a significant financial shift in women’s professional cycling; for comparison, in 2018, Movistar negotiated an annual salary of €25,000 for rider Mavi García, representing an increase of more than €575,000 per year.
